Texas singer-songwriter Slaid Cleaves played his third Colorado date on a tour to promote his latest album, Everything You Love Will Be Taken Away, at Denver’s acoustic center, Swallow Hill.
And as a delightful storyteller, he treated the audience to an hour of his tales in both the songs and in the onstage banter with help from Ivan Brown and Charles Arthur.

With his new album, Everything You Love Will Be Taken Away hitting the shelves this week, a lengthy tour plus his work with the Woody Guthrie Ribbon Of Highway shows, Slaid Cleaves is a busy guy.
He took some time earlier this month to take our phone call from his hometown of Austin, Texas just before heading to Pennsylvania and New York for a handful of gigs.
Read what he had to say about the new record, writing songs and dreaming about Bruce Springsteen.

Having released only two albums of original material in the decade (Wishbone in 2004 and Broke Down in 2000), the Maine-born and Austin-based Slaid Cleaves is certainly not known for his prolific nature.
However, his newest record, Everything You Love Will Be Taken Away, is a testament to the saying “quality over quantity” providing a new set of 11 beautifully woven tunes.
It’s that time of year again and the music portion of SXSW kicks off tomorrow.
Even without a badge, there’s loads of free or nearly free shows to enjoy if you’re in Austin this week. KGSR has shows at Auditorium Shores on Lady Bird Lake, and the morning broadcast from the lobby of the Four Seasons.
Numerous artists are playing side shows around the city and there’s the annual Million Musician March for Peace on the 21st.
But, if you’re sitting out for this year’s festivities there’s still plenty to be excited about in the musical world.
