His latest record, Circles Around Me, is a continuation of the musical style and skillful playing that earned him the moniker of “King” both at the Telluride Bluegrass Festival and of the musical style he pioneered.

In the world of songwriters, Guy Clark is one of the gems. He’s continuously creates solid and timeless classics (“Desperados Waiting For A Train,” “New Cut Road”) since his first record in 1975. And the ten new tunes on his latest album, Somedays the Song Writes You are no exception.
Though the first and title track highlights the intangible relationship between the words and the writer it’s difficult to fathom Guy sitting down at a loss for a rhyme. Still, as Guy sings in Hemmingway’s Whiskey, “a good muse is hard to find” for even the best of the best.

After 34 seasons, Austin City Limits is the longest running live concert television show.
Beginning as a humble local venue to showcase local Texas artists, the series has grown to feature a wide variety of musical styles and genres.
The new season began last week with an encore showing of R.E.M. but new shows begin this week with Bettye LaVette and Pinetop Perkins.
Other episodes will feature acts such as Lyle Lovett (with his friends John Hiatt, Guy Clark, and Joe Ely), Jakob Dylan, My Morning Jacket, Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings, Carolyn Wonderland, and Aimee Mann.

What a hilarious gentleman. Lyle Lovett’s new release It’s Not Big, It’s Large (of course referring to his Large Band) makes me smile just thinking about it.
Guests like Sam Bush, Jerry Douglas, Bela Fleck and Guy Clark are everywhere, when you’re Lyle, you can get anyone to play on your album.
Of course, not to take away from his band which includes Russ Kunkel, Gene Elders and Mitch Watkins.
