“I was on my computer today and it occurred to me that we’ve played Colorado seven times in the last year,” Brandi Carlile (who has repeatedly packed venues around the state) said to the sold-out crowd Saturday night at the Paramount in Downtown Denver.
“I’m really touched that you came to see us after all these times. I carefully reviewed every set list to add new songs and I also reviewed all of our outfits and haircuts so most things about tonight will be different.”

With each new album Brandi Carlile seems to find a new way to impress. Her latest and greatest, Give Up The Ghost touts heartbreaking lyrics, perfect harmonies and spine-tingling vocals delivered as only Brandi can.
Of course, guests like Elton John, Amy Ray and Benmont Tench (Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers) and production by Rick Rubin only add to the wonderful sound created by her core band: Josh Neumann (cello) and the twins, Phil (bass) and Tim (guitar) Hanseroth.

Returning to Colorado and Boulder’s Chautauqua Auditorium with a full band (including Allison Miller, drums, Josh Neumann, cello, and the twins, Phil and Tim Hanseroth, bass and guitar), Brandi Carlile played to a sold-out crowd.
The second show of their “Give Up The Ghost” tour, preparing fans for the upcoming record of the same name (out Oct. 6) they played an amazing hour and a half set, incorporating new material in with some older favorites.
Opening the show was the North Carolina band, Noises 10, sharing songs from their album The Hammer, The Anvil, The Stirrup. Brandi (who is always willing to lend a musical hand) came out and added background vocals on a song called My Repair.

Like the taste of a piece of fine chocolate, the longer the music of Gregory Alan Isakov’s This Empty Northern Hemisphere is allowed to linger the more nuanced and delicious it becomes.
His rich vocals are complemented by the Freight, his ever-so-talented band with Jen Gilleran (drums), Jeb Bows (violin) and Phil Parker (cello). And there’s the perfectly matched harmonies from Brandi Carlile on five tracks, adding a touch of sweetness.

The brave and dedicated fought the surprise spring snowstorm, venturing to the Aggie Theater in Fort Collins for the sold-out Brandi Carlile acoustic concert.
Opening for Brandi was Angel Taylor, not the locally-based Gregory Alan Isokov who is opening for Brandi on several of the dates this tour.

With a new album in the works, Brandi Carlile has hit the road to showcase some of the new songs to her fans.
She’ll be playing three Colorado dates this week, including a sold-out shows at Swallow Hill and the Aggie Theater in Fort Collins.
She took some time to talk with us a few weeks ago before her opening night in New Hampshire.
