The Civil Wars – South by San Jose – SXSW, TX

As some of Americana’s newcomers, The Civil Wars (Joy Williams and John Paul White) combine their harmonies and knack for owning cover songs with a ridiculously adorable stage presence.

Their debut record, Barton Hallow, has them selling out venues across the country. For their South by San Jose appearance, they performed “Forget Me Not,” and “Tip of my Tongue,” a new song entitled “Oh Henry” and a crowd-pleasing, smoldering version of Michael Jackson’s “Billie Jean.”

Ending their short set to cheers from the audience for more with “Barton Hallow,” Joy laughed, “We don’t even know seventeen songs, we’re a new band!”

A selection from their official showcase is available for download on iTunes.
