Celebrating his 60th birthday with musical friends and fans Asleep at the Wheel leader Ray Benson hosted a fabulous party benefiting Health Alliance for Austin Musicians (HAAM).
Featuring the country swing of AATW, the event began with “Route 66″ and “Take Me Back to Tulsa.” The format of the evening allowed the band to act as a use band of sorts for the variety of artists that played a song of their own and then sharing the stage with Benson for a tune.
Radney Foster and Bill Lloyd, Jason Bolan, jazz chanteuse Kat Edmonson, Cody Canada, The Trishas, AATW member Elizabeth McQueen, Carolyn Wonderland, The Wheeler Brothers, Dale Watson and Bonnie Bishop were among the performers on hand to wish everyone a “Happy Ray Benson’s Birthday.”
