Countdown to Old Settler’s Music Festival 2010

In just under two weeks (April 15-18), Old Settler’s Music Festival will help kick off the festival season at the Salt Lick BBQ Pavilion in Driftwood, Texas  (just south of Austin) with four stages and four days of Americana music.

In its 23rd year, the line-up is strong with artists like Alejandro Escovedo, Ruthie Foster, Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver, Jimmy LaFave, Peter Rowan Bluegrass Band, Mindy Smith, The Infamous Stringdusters, The Trishas, Ruby Jane, Band of Heathens and headliners Joe Ely (Friday), Patty Griffin with Buddy Miller (Saturday) and The Gourds (Sunday).

Benefiting the Campfire Boys and Girls and the Health Alliance for Austin Musicians, other activities at the fest include workshops with some of the performers, a Youth Talent Competition and a petting zoo, face painting and a rock wall for the kids (12 and under admitted free with a paying adult).

And of course, if you can’t make it follow us on Twitter and Facebook for updates, photos and daily reviews of the shows.
