As part of their SXSW offerings, KGSR (now on the dial at 93.3) hosts a live broadcast from the lobby of the Four Seasons hotel. With a lineup including John Hiatt, Grace Potter, Jakob Dylan and the new Dixie Chicks spin-off project from Martie Maguire and Emily Robison, fans rose early (4:30am in some cases) to get a chair or a scare piece of carpet to enjoy music and breakfast for a small donation to the Seton Shivers Cancer Foundation.
While the Court Yard Hounds return to a more folk sound and less “new” country and John Hiatt’s latest “The Open Road” chronicles his journeys through touring and life, Grace Potter and the Nocturnals certainly stole the show, arriving in their pajamas and robes and powering through “Medicine” from their upcoming record. And the stripped-down version of Jakob Dylan’s “Three Legs” with just Kelly Hogan on backing vocal and Paul Rigby on mandolin and guitar wrapped up the morning beautifully.

i heart jakob dylan. even when his lyrics make no sense (see Wallflowers hits: exhibit A), that raspy voice gets me every time.
saw him 3x in nyc last spring… but sad i missed the Four Seasons.
