Looking forward to Monolith Festival 2009

Among the last of the summer festivals, the 3rd annual Monolith Festival promises great music (over 50 artists spanning nearly every genre) and fabulous atmosphere (the famously amazing Red Rocks Amphitheater).

Headlining the show are The Yeah Yeah Yeahs (Saturday) and The Mars Volta (Sunday) but the entire line-up is incredibly strong and with five stages there’s something for everyone.

Plus, the good folks organizing the fest have taken steps to make sure that the music won’t stop by adding a series of local DJs to take over between the main stage sets.

The other acts we’re excited about: M. Ward, Of Montreal, Rachel Goodrich, Deer Tick, and The Dandy Warhols plus the local favorites Gregory Alan Isakov, Boulder Acoustic Society and Danielle Ate the Sandwich.

If the great music wasn’t enough, there’s a series of “greening initiatives” including carbon offsets (over 240 short tons), single-stream recycling and composting and a reforestation project

Tickets are still available, $59.50 for a single-day or $110 for a two-day pass. See the full line-up and purchase tickets at MonolithFestival.com.
