Countdown to Rocky Mountain Folks Festival

Nineteen years ago, the Rocky Mountain Folks Festival, younger sibling of the Telluride Bluegrass Festival, began annual festivities in Estes Park.

Moving down the canyon to the Planet Bluegrass Ranch in Lyons, Colo. in 1995, Folks Fest brings together artist from varying folk traditions – bluegrass, blues, and contemporary included.

The lineup for this year’s musical reunion (Aug. 14-16) has a little old (Don McLean, Susan Tedeschi), a little new (Mia Dyson, Chuck E. Costa) and the usual suspects (Gillian Welch, Rufus Wainwright, Mary Gauthier).

Special sets over in the Wildflower Pavilion will include local favorites Reed Foehl, Danny Shafer & Jami Lunde.
