Another of the last of the summer music festivals, Telluride’s Blues & Brews is just around the bend (Sept. 18-20). This year’s festival offers over 20 artists and 50 microbreweries.
And with the beautiful mountains setting the perfect backdrop for the stage it’s even listed in the book 1,000 Places to See in the USA and Canada Before You Die.
This year’s line-up is packed with fabulous musicians including Bonnie Raitt and Taj Mahal (they’re the Sunday night headliners), Buddy Guy, Joe Cocker, Umphrey’s McGee, Ruthie Foster, Saint Jude and Carolyn Wonderland.
And if the main-stage shows aren’t enough to satisfy your hunger for the blues, there are nightly (starting a good hour after the headliner) juke joint shows at various clubs (Fly Me to the Moon Saloon, Las Montanas, Elks Lodge) around town.
Plus, there’s the Sunday night Fais do-do at the Sheridan Opera House with The Lee Boys and Ruthie Foster.
Of course, the festival has beer too. The Saturday afternoon “Grand Tasting” will feature 53 microbreweries and over 150 different beer selections. The tasting is included with 3-day and Saturday passes.
We’ll be on the scene, sharing photos and stories as they come in and we’ve got a few interviews lined up so stay tuned.
Tickets are available through the Telluride Blues website.
