After 34 seasons, Austin City Limits is the longest running live concert television show.

Beginning as a humble local venue to showcase local Texas artists, the series has grown to feature a wide variety of musical styles and genres.

The new season began last week with an encore showing of R.E.M. but new shows begin this week with Bettye LaVette and Pinetop Perkins.

Other episodes will feature acts such as Lyle Lovett (with his friends John Hiatt, Guy Clark, and Joe Ely), Jakob Dylan, My Morning Jacket, Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings, Carolyn Wonderland, and Aimee Mann.

Filmed at a studio located on the University of Texas (though it will get a new home downtown) the intimate concerts are broadcast nationwide on PBS. Select shows are subsequently released on DVD through New West Records.

The full schedule as well as show times can be found on the PBS website.

Fans can also take a free tour of the taping studio on Friday mornings at 10:30.
