The Bird and the Bee is a LA-based band consisting of Greg Kurstin (“bee”) and Inara George (“bird”).
They play the catchy songs that you bop around singing for a week. They opened for Rilo Kiley. They’ve been on Grey’s Anatomy, twice. They’ve been number one of the dance charts. They bring out a bubble machine on stage. Bottom line, they’re cool.
And that’s before you take into consideration that the George in Inara’s name comes from Lowell.
Yes, that’s right. She’s Little Feat founder, Lowell George’s daughter. It caught me by surprise too, I didn’t find out until about half-way through the album and some googling. Heck, I didn’t even know Lowell had a daughter. But that’s beside the point because she deserves props all by herself.
They’ll be at Coachella, make time to see them.
They have a full length album out (self-titled), a few EPs and a single or two. It’s all quality stuff, but there are a few that jump out as stars.
